2019 Silent Film Festival a Success!

Lights, Camera, Action!

On Monday, April 22, the 4th grade plus the 5th grade FLAG students and their families headed to Toll Middle School Auditorium for our 2019 Silent Film Festival. The Festival featured silent films the students created with Mrs. Cathy Gilbert, our Resident Artist in Theatre. Families got to enjoy free popcorn, walk the red carpet, take their photo and enjoy the many movie posters made by the students themselves. That led the way to the films, which were screened in their entirety for all to appreciate. This year, the unofficial themed seemed to be: Donuts and Cops who caught criminals and sent them to jail.

We would like to thank Mrs. Gilbert for her tireless efforts to teach these students about the different components of a silent film while giving them opportunities to create, collaborate, and problem solve with each other. This year, in addition to acting or directing, many students also edited their films. It was a new opportunity for these children and we are glad they were able to learn about the post-production phase of films.

MKS would also like to thank our 4th grade, plus 5th grade FLAG, teachers, who have been so supportive throughout this entire process. Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Tonoli, Ms. Worley, Toll Middle School, and all those that volunteered to help throughout the entire process.
